Subaru Engineering
What Makes a Subaru Different
Subaru builds every model around three ideas: grip, balance and safety. Here is how that helps on Tanzanian roads, from Dar city traffic to the steep climbs of the Southern Highlands.
All Wheels, All the Time
Symmetrical AWD sends power to every wheel, which helps on wet roads during the masika season.
Low Mounted Boxer Engine
The engine lies flat and low. That lowers the centre of gravity and makes the car feel planted.
X MODE for Tough Climbs
Many grades of the Forester, XV and Outback limit wheel spin on muddy hills and loose slopes.
Room Under the Car
The Forester and Outback ride high enough for rough village roads and speed humps.
EyeSight Safety Cameras
Twin cameras watch the road ahead and can apply the brakes if a crash looks likely.
Hybrid e BOXER Models
The Advance versions of the Forester and XV add an electric motor that takes over at low speed to save fuel.
Equipment differs between grades and model years. Our team will confirm the exact specification of each listing.

Questions and Answers
Subaru FAQs: Reliability, Fuel and Upkeep
Clear answers for anyone shopping for a Subaru in Tanzania.
The XV and Impreza are the most compact Subarus with full time AWD. The XV sits higher, so it copes better with rough roads and speed humps. The Impreza is lower and suits mostly paved driving. If you need more space, step up to the Forester.
Subaru sedans with the 1.6 or 2.0 litre boxer engine use a moderate amount of fuel for an AWD car. Turbo models such as the WRX S4 use noticeably more.
A well maintained Subaru is a dependable car that can run for many years without major repairs. Care makes the biggest difference. Regular oil changes, CVT fluid service and good quality fuel keep it healthy. Newer models are generally more reliable than older ones.
Some boxer engines use a little oil between services, so check the level often. Older engines can develop oil leaks around the valve covers, and 2.5 litre engines built before about 2012 were known for head gasket wear. On CVT models, skipping fluid changes can cause shaking or slipping. A car with a clear service record avoids most of these problems.
Subaru is one of the strongest Japanese brands for safety. Many models have earned top ratings from crash test bodies such as JNCAP in Japan. EyeSight driver assist comes on most recent grades, and full time AWD adds stability on wet roads.
