Volkswagen Passat Variant 2014
Passat Variant 2014 If you want to buy a used midsize sedan, the Passat isn't a good choice. It rides well and is roomy inside, but it isn't as reliable as competitors like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.
The Passat also doesn't have a lot of the high-tech safety features that have become common in its class, like a warning before a collision and a screen that shows what's in the blind spot. Look around before you think about buying this VW.
How the 2014 Volkswagen
Passat works and how it looks
You can choose from four different engines for the 2014 Passat.
The engine in the Passat 2.5L has five cylinders, while the engine in the Passat 1.8T has four turbocharged cylinders.
Both have 170 horsepower, but the 1.8T feels like it has more power. It helps the sedan get up to speed quickly and saves more gas—up to 24 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.
Standard is a manual transmission with five speeds and a front-wheel drive. Automatic transmission with six speeds is also available.
Passat's cabin has room for five people and stays quiet even at highway speeds.
The front seats are soft, but they don't have as much lumbar support or side support as they could. Even tall people should have plenty of head- and legroom in the back seats.
